Woodland Scene

Slender trunks step out of deep shade one behind another, bark catching a thin sideways light. Konstantin Bogaevsky built his Woodland scene around exactly that quiet exchange between tree and air. Greens do the work here, olive along the canopy edge and moss dark at the roots, while an ochre track pulls the eye inward. Foliage breaks into crosshatch where light hits it. The undergrowth reads almost geological, rock turned soft and leafy. A study lined with books, or an entryway that sees only morning light, gives these greens something solid to sit against.
