A lion stands at the center of this design for the 10 Heller Porto brand of Austrian Post in the Levant, drawn by Koloman Moser for a stamp the post office never issued. The motif reads in bold graphic silhouette, lettering framing the animal on every side. Wash and line work carry the composition: the lion rendered in flat, saturated tone, its mane built from dense hatching, the denomination and postal inscription set in disciplined letterforms around the border.
