Wood Path in Spring

A narrow plank walkway cuts through thawing woodland in Wood Path in Spring, Nikolay Bogdanov-Belsky at his most quietly observant. Meltwater pools beside the boards, catching pale northern light between bare trunks. Soft greens break through last year’s russet undergrowth while the wet path itself carries the eye deep into the trees. Bogdanov-Belsky keeps the handling loose and honest: brushstrokes of ochre, umber and watery blue build the puddled ground, and the sky above the canopy stays a wash of pearl grey. It suits a hallway, home office or reading corner that wants the cool freshness of early Russian spring rather than heavy ornament.
