Winter

Snow settles over a low field, hedgerows reduced to dark seams against a pale sky. Winter by Kimon Loghi reads the cold season through an impressionist eye, where atmosphere matters more than outline. Greys dominate, layered from pearl to deep slate, with violet shadows pooling in drifts and along frozen furrows. Broken brushwork scatters light across the surface, so the cold seems to shimmer rather than sit still. Bare branches and a distant roofline give the eye quiet anchors in all that hush.
