White Roses and Grapes

White roses and grapes sit gathered on a tabletop, painted by Samuel Peploe with the crisp structure that marks his Scottish Colourist still lifes. The blooms carry a cool, chalky white against deep shadow, while the fruit hangs in heavy purple and green clusters.
