Wallpaper Design

Winding stems carry curling fronds across the sheet in long, unhurried arcs, each line thickening and thinning like brushwork on silk. Otto Eckmann drew this wallpaper design in the fluent, whiplash manner that made his ornament famous, the contours swelling at the stem and snapping into fine points at the tips. Pale ground, dark sinewy linework, and a repeating rhythm meant to run seam to seam down a corridor of walls. It suits a hallway, a reading nook, or the wall above a writing desk where pattern can breathe.
