The Alcazar of Segovia rises at the point where two rivers meet, drawn here by Anna Ostroumova-Lebedeva in her View of the Alcazar. Segovia. Her graphic line turns the Spanish fortress into something almost weightless, its towers slender as pins pressed into a hilltop. Look closely and the woodcut hand is everywhere. Crosshatching builds the stone mass of the castle, each stroke tightening toward the conical slate roofs she renders in near black. Below, the clustered houses of the old town scatter in loose, lighter strokes, and the sky stays deliberately empty so the silhouette carries all the weight. Greys dominate, warmed by ochre in the masonry. Suits a study or hallway where a strong architectural silhouette can hold the wall on its own.
