View of Everest from Tibet

Everest fills the far horizon, a pale summit riding above a band of cold cloud. Nicholas Roerich titled the scene plainly: a view of Everest from Tibet, painted from the Tibetan side of the range. Tempera gives the peaks their chalky whiteness, layered in thin, deliberate strokes. The foothills below run in bands of slate blue and burnt sienna, hard-edged against a sky of deepening cobalt. Prayer flags or ridgeline paths break the emptiness with small, dark accents. A study or reading room gains a quiet focal point here, something for slow mornings and long looks.
