Vidéki Táj Fákkal

Trees rise along a country horizon in this gouache landscape by Scheiber Hugó, titled Vidéki Táj Fákkal. The brushwork moves fast and sure, the way a painter works outdoors when the light will not wait. Look closely and the pigment sits thick in places, thinned to washes in others, so the trunks read as dark verticals against a pale sky while the field below carries greens and earth tones in quick layered strokes.
