Venice. Palazzo Cadore

Green water slaps against old stone in Venice. Palazzo Cadore, Pyotr Konchalovsky reading the lagoon city through post-impressionist eyes, all weight and warm light. Arched windows climb the facade in uneven rows, brick showing bare where render has dropped away. A black mooring pole cuts the canal in two, and the whole building breaks into short horizontal strokes across the ripple below. Paint sits thick, terracotta against viridian, laid on with a loaded brush. A study lined with dark books, or an entryway that wants a window onto water, is where these sunlit greens and dusty reds do their best work.
