Venice. House of Tintoretto

A brick facade rises sheer from green canal water in Venice. House of Tintoretto, Pyotr Konchalovsky, shows the Cannaregio dwelling where the old master lived and worked. Sun-bleached plaster turns dusty rose above deep terracotta brick, shutters half open against dark window recesses. The water holds viridian and umber reflections, a mooring pole stripes the surface at its waterline, and loaded brushwork leaves ridges of paint standing like rendered stone. Ochre and bottle green suit a study lined with dark shelves, or an entryway where afternoon light lands on something weathered and Venetian.
