Venice

Venice in grayscale: a campanile and stacked palazzi rise above a canal where gondolas and moored barges sit low on the water. Anna Ostroumova-Lebedeva renders the lagoon city in her signature woodcut manner, all disciplined line and tonal contrast. Look closely and the crosshatching does the work of light. Stone facades break into hatched shadow, water ripples in short rhythmic strokes, and the sky stays as clean paper.
