Velieri sullo scalo a Viareggio

Sailboats crowd the mole at Viareggio, masts slanting against a pale Tyrrhenian sky. Galileo Chini renders the busy scalo with loose, sunlit brushwork, hulls and rigging reduced to confident strokes of blue, white, and sand. Look at the water: layered greens and turquoises break into short horizontal dabs where light catches the swell. Figures along the quay register as dark accents, giving the fleet its human scale. The palette runs marine teal, cream, and warm ochre, the whole surface breathing with coastal air and painted heat. A natural companion for a sunroom, coastal hallway, or any reading corner that wants a hint of the Ligurian shore.
