Untitled

Blue peaks rise in ordered tiers, each ridge colder and paler than the one before it. This untitled work by Nicholas Roerich carries his unmistakable signature: mountains reduced to planes of color, layered like sheets of slate. Tempera-like flatness defines the foreground, where dark foothills press against slopes washed in mineral blue and bone white. The sky holds no clouds, only a shallow band of pale color above the summit line. Nothing in the composition moves except the eye, which climbs upward ridge by ridge toward the highest, sharpest crest. Suited to a study or reading room where quiet concentration matters.
