Moss devours the ground and swallows the sky in Ferdynand Ruszczyc Untitled, where a single gnarled tree anchors a landscape that feels half remembered, half feared. Ruszczyc painted the Baltic north with a heavier hand than most of Mir Iskusstva ever dared, loading ochres and deep viridians onto the surface until the earth itself seems to breathe. The brushwork sits thick, almost sculpted, every clod of soil and ragged leaf built in short loaded strokes. Green dominates, but it is green gone feral, undercut by umber shadow and a sky the color of old pewter. Hung in a study or a dim hallway, it turns any wall into northern wilderness.
