Untitled

A cathedral spire stacks its striped shell in bands of cobalt and vermilion, drawn with the playful geometry that Bertold Löffler carried through the Viennese workshop circles. This untitled composition keeps his signature flattening of form. Look closely and the logic of the surface takes over. Contours run in thick outlines, shading is reduced to stepped planes, and the color holds saturated and even, the way ink sits on paper after a hand-pulled pass. Small ornamental accents stitch the shapes together like folk embroidery translated into design. Hung above a hallway console or in a reading nook, it brings the graphic cheer of early twentieth century Vienna into a modern room without crowding it.
