Udvar

Sunlight drops straight down into an enclosed courtyard, and Scheiber Hugó catches the hour when plaster turns warm: ochre and brick, washing strung overhead, deep shadow pooling at floor level. Everything is built from quick, loaded strokes. Window frames crosshatch in near-black, a stair rail cuts a hard diagonal, and rooflines jag against a narrow band of sky. One figure crosses the yard, dwarfed by all that architecture, rendered in a few decisive marks. Set in a hallway or reading nook, it carries the energy of Hungarian modernism indoors: sunbaked stone, cool shade, and the low hum of city life behind old facades.
