Turski Bridge

Stone arches cross the river in low, rounded spans, painted with quick confident strokes. Nadezda Petrovic titled the scene Turski Bridge, and her brush keeps the masonry rough, the water restless. Greys and mossy greens dominate the water surface, broken by pale reflections where the sky slips between the piers. The arches read in ochre and warm umber, their edges softened by thick impasto. Along the bank, small figures and pale facades dissolve into loose patches of pigment, the whole surface alive with visible directional strokes. It belongs in a study or reading room, where its cool river tones settle a shelf of books and old maps.
