A slab of unbroken blue-green fills the upper third and presses down on Himalayan peaks flushed coral above the snowline. Turquoise Sky, Pink Mountains, Purple Foot, a Nicholas Roerich color study. Tempera gives the surface a matte, chalky finish, pigment laid in broad flat washes with almost no blending, the way thin high-altitude air flattens distance. Nearest the viewer a lone spur sinks into violet so deep it borders on black, while snow ridges behind it hold the last of the daylight. Give it a quiet reading nook or hallway corner, somewhere the eye can linger band by band, much as the painter watched the light turn at altitude.
