Turkish Coastal Town

Turkish coastal town, one of the late works by marine painter Michael Zeno Diemer, spreads along a hillside above the sea. Minarets, flat roofs and cypress spires gather toward the water, the whole settlement bathed in dry southern light. Whitewashed walls carry every shade the Mediterranean offers: rose where shadow pools in alleys, ochre where sun strikes plaster, pale blue shutters against weathered timber. Small craft sit at anchor below the jetty, their hulls and rigging drawn with the precision of a man who spent decades painting ships and harbors. Hills behind the town fade to a hazy violet, pushing the architecture forward. Suited to a hallway, dining room or study, anywhere that welcomes a view of the sea.
