Trans-Himalayas, View from Saga-Dzong

Snow ridges of the Trans-Himalayas climb toward a pale sky, seen from the high vantage of Saga-Dzong. Nicholas Roerich captures the moment when evening cold turns distant peaks into bands of rose and blue. Below the summits, a dry valley floor unrolls in ochre and dusty violet, crossed by the faint trace of a caravan path. Sharp tempura edges meet soft glazes where shadow gathers in the folds of the ranges. The dzong itself sits low and dark, a small fortress anchoring all that height.
