Tóvárosi Táj

Small-town rooftops press toward the water in Tóvárosi Táj, a Hungarian landscape by Vaszary János where chimneys, gable ends and tree lines settle into quiet afternoon haze. Vaszary paints the town with loose, loaded brushwork: terracotta roofs in burnt sienna, walls flushed pink and cream, a band of lake or river holding the sky in soft blue-grey. Greens go from olive shadow to yellowed summer leaf, and the horizon stays low, letting cloud-heavy light do the work. Everything reads at a glance yet rewards close looking at the surface texture. Hung it where the day slows down, a reading nook, a hallway, above a writing desk that faces the garden.
