Tibet

A caravan of loaded pack animals crosses a high plateau, dwarfed by blue ranges that stack toward a pale sky. Roerich titled the scene simply Tibet, and nothing more needed saying. Tempera gives the mountains their dry, chalky luminosity, each ridge a flat plane of lapis and violet edged in snow. The trekkers move in single file along a burnt sienna path, tiny against the silence of the heights. Thin cloud bands streak horizontally, holding the composition level.
