Tibet

Prayer flags ripple above a high plateau in Tibet, a Nicholas Roerich composition where human presence measures itself against the mass of the mountains. Below, dark figures move along a ridge rendered in deep umber and slate, their scale reduced to strokes against the vastness. Above them the peaks build in layers of cobalt and tempered violet, pigment laid flat and unblended so each facet of rock reads as a single decision of color. The sky holds no clouds, only a pale clarity that presses the summits forward. A study, a quiet hallway, a room kept for reading.
