Tibet

A lone figure crosses a high plateau, dwarfed by the vastness around. Roerich titled the work simply Tibet, letting the land itself carry the weight of the scene. Cobalt and slate sweep across the horizon in broad tempera-like flats, the color deepening toward the summits. Snowfields sit unblended against violet shadow, while a thin trail of ochre marks the path below. The horizon rides high in the composition, so the sky presses down on the traveler like a vault. Every edge is drawn clean, almost architectural. Suits a study or hallway where a wide, quiet horizon can hold the wall on its own.
