Thunersee mit Niesen

The Niesen rises above Lake Thun in one clean pyramid, and Cuno Amiet gives it a violet flank against a sky built from stacked bands of blue and cream. Water carries the mountain downward in broken reflections of teal and grey. Short strokes of green and ochre run along the near shore, meadow pressed against the lakeshore. The brushwork stays loose and open, more suggestion than detail, so the mountain holds the composition by sheer geometry. Cool lake blues sit against warm hillside tones in a balance that feels distinctly Swiss. This landscape reproduction suits a hallway, home office, or any wall that could use clean alpine air and wide horizon lines.
