The Worlds of Mars

Ardent worlds hang in tiered formation, stacked one above another like copper coins on an altar of night. This is the cosmic vision Ciurlionis brought to The Worlds of Mars, where planetary spheres are treated as architecture rather than astronomy. Look closely and the layered discs reveal themselves: burnished reds and umbers pressed against a cool ground, each world rimmed in a thin halo of light. Faint tonal bands suggest atmosphere, almost like crosshatching, while the darker void between spheres deepens toward violet. Nothing here is literal science. It is cosmology rendered as pure line and glow. A study, a library reading nook, or a hallway facing north light would give these stacked spheres the quiet wall they deserve.
