Impatiens crowd a bright sill in The window. Balsams, Pyotr Konchalovsky giving a plain household corner the full force of his still life appetite. Flowers first, daylight second. Succulent stems lean toward the glass, carmine and rose blooms opening above leaves laid down in thick, wet greens. Behind them the panes flatten into one pale wash of cool morning, while a clay pot at the base holds everything in warm earth tones.
