The Symphony of Action

Banners surge overhead while a dense crowd moves in one direction below. Konstantin Yuon titled the scene The Symphony of Action, and the name fits the momentum on view. Crimson cloth cuts across a sky washed in cold blue and pale gold. Figures press forward in loose ranks, their coats and hats broken into quick strokes of ochre, white and deep red, the brushwork itself keeping the crowd in motion.
