The Sycamores, Pasadena

White-barked sycamores rise through a Pasadena afternoon, their mottled trunks catching patches of cool light between deep shade. Guy Rose paints the California Grove with a French-trained brush: broken strokes of violet shadow, olive leaf, and warm cream bark dappled by sun.
