The Seal

A seal lifts its head and coils its whole body into one smooth curve, the entire animal compressed by Constantin Brâncuși into a single flowing arc of polished bronze. Every unnecessary detail is gone. No eyes, no fur, no flippers, only the tapered muzzle rising from a body that swells at the chest and narrows toward the tail. The dark metal takes the light along one continuous ridge, so the silhouette reads as motion arrested mid-dive. Give it a hallway or study where daylight shifts through the hours, and the curve seems to tilt and breathe with every change of light.
