The Sea View of Cliffs

Blue sea meets pale cliffs in Guy Rose's The Sea View of Cliffs. Surf breaks in short white strokes against the rock face while open water stretches toward a hazy horizon. Rose builds the headland from thick, broken brushwork: warm buff and rose-gold stone where sun strikes, cool violet shadow in the clefts. The water shifts from deep green close inshore to milky blue at the horizon, the sky kept high and dry. Hang it where light moves through the day: a hallway, a reading nook, or a bedroom that faces the morning sun.
