The Sacred Heart Seen from the Garden of Rue Cortot

A red heart blazes at the center, ribbed with gold rays, lifted above a jumble of garden rooftops. Suzanne Valadon painted this view from her window on Rue Cortot in Montmartre, where the Sacred Heart of Montmartre looms white over the quarter. Heavy black outlines lock the dome, the chimneys, the bare trees into place, a method she used across her figure work and city scenes. Greens run olive and bottle dark through the garden beds, while sky washes pale behind the basilica towers. It belongs in a study or a hallway where its dense, hand-built composition can hold the eye at close range.

A stretched canvas: the image is printed on a cotton-polyester weave (300–350 gsm) and wrapped over FSC-certified wood stretcher bars. A hanging kit is included, so no frame or extra hardware is needed.

Dust with a soft, dry cloth only — avoid water or cleaning products on the canvas face — and keep it out of direct sunlight and away from radiators.

As a guide, a piece hung above furniture should span roughly two-thirds of that furniture width. If you are between two sizes, the larger option almost always reads better on the wall than expected.

Every piece is made to order, then shipped free with tracking. US and Europe/UK orders typically arrive in 4–9 business days; Australia, New Zealand, Japan, Singapore and the UAE in 7–16 business days. A tracking link is emailed as soon as it ships. Full details are on our shipping policy.
