The Road to Sekerin

A lone figure walks a pale road that unspools toward a village of low roofs, the path rendered in short, hatched strokes of grey and rose. Konstantin Somov painted this route with the eye of a draughtsman, and The Road to Sekerin keeps that drawn quality in every touch. Bare trees line the way, their trunks picked out in thin violet shadow. Snow softens the ditches; the sky sits low and pearl-grey above the horizon. Watercolors bleed gently at the edges of the fields while the road itself stays crisp, a firm spine through the damp air. Somov lets small accents carry the mood, a red scarf, a dark fence post, a warm lit window far off. It suits a hallway or a quiet study where the eye can travel that road slowly, morning after morning.
