The Procession on the Slopes

Figures climb a snow-dusted hillside in a slow ceremonial line, tiny against a sky of pale gold. Yuon called it The Procession on the Slopes, and the whole scene reads at once. Look closely and the details resolve: dark coats and bright headscarves, long shadows stretched blue across the snow, a church dome catching the low sun at the crest of the ridge. Thin vermilion accents punctuate the white, and the brushwork stays loose and confident where the cold light demands it. Made for a hallway, a stair landing, or a study that leans toward winter light and Russian landscape painting.
