The Old Church at Cagnes

A weathered stone church rises above the tiled rooftops of Cagnes, its bell tower catching the full weight of the Provençal sun while pale walls glow rose and apricot beneath a high blue sky. Guy Rose painted the village in short, loaded strokes of violet shadow and warm ochre, cypress spires and red-tiled roofs stacked up the hillside in loose French Impressionist brushwork. Mediterranean light saturates every plane of masonry and foliage. A sunlit hallway or dining room with terracotta accents gives these village colors room to breathe.
