The March Wind

A woman leans into a hard March gust on a city street, her dark coat snapping, cheeks wind-scoured red, one gloved hand pinning her hat against the weather. Robert Henri turns an ordinary blustery walk into a study of resistance, paint laid on in broad, confident strokes of slate blue, charcoal, and bruised violet, with that flush of face color catching the cold light.
