The Lake in the Forest

A still sheet of water opens between dense tree trunks, and Kimon Loghi builds the whole scene around that hush. The Lake in the Forest reads as a clearing you have walked into rather than looked at. Trunks rise in cool greys and bark browns, their reflections doubling downward into the surface so the lake seems to hold the forest inside itself. Broken light filters through the canopy, scattering pale greens and soft yellows across the water, while the far shore dissolves into a misty blue-green blur. Every edge is softened by humidity and shade. Suited to a quiet study or a reading nook, where its deep greens and mirrored calm reward long, unhurried looking.
