The Giant Racer

A greyhounds body stretched into pure velocity, nose forward, every limb flung wide. The giant racer by Cyril Power turns one animal mid-sprint into a diagram of speed itself. Lines fan out behind the hound like shockwaves, the whole form compressed into overlapping arcs of cream, rust, and deep charcoal that read almost as geometry. The linocut style is unmistakable: sharp angular cuts, flat planes of ink, the dogs ribs and haunches built from interlocking wedges of tone. Power understood rhythm in black and white better than almost anyone working between the wars. Hang it where movement belongs: a hallway, a stair landing, the wall above a desk where things get decided.
