The Court of Prince Vladimir Galitsky

Prince Vladimir Galitsky holds court at the center of a stage study for Prince Igor, painted by Nicholas Roerich for the opera of Borodin. Banners, boyars, and ceremonial archways gather around the seated ruler. Terracotta and deep vermilion dominate the composition, cut through by the cool blues Roerich favored for Russian interiors.
