The Bridge at Vernon

An arched stone bridge spans the Seine at Vernon, its pale masonry catching a cool northern light. Guy Rose sets the crossing low in the frame, water sliding beneath in ribbons of blue and violet grey. Reflections break the bridge into shifting bands of color, each arch doubled in the river below. Trees along the far bank hold a soft green that fades toward a pearl sky, and small boats rest at their moorings in the foreground. A calm, luminous scene for a hallway, dining room, or any quiet corner that welcomes gentle French river light.
