The Beach, Concarneau

Fishing boats rest on wet sand, keels pressed into the ebb, the scene Robert Henri set down at Concarneau on the Brittany coast. The harbor lies open and bare. Oil handling carries the picture: broad loaded strokes build an oyster gray sky over sea green water, and rust red hulls anchor the middle distance.
