The Autumn Sun

Low October sun slants across a Slovenian hillside, and Ivan Grohar catches it in The autumn sun, where poplars and hedgerows hold the last warmth of the year. Grohar builds the scene with loaded, directional strokes, ochre and burnt sienna foliage set against a pale wash of sky, violet shadow pooling beneath bare trees while short impasto ridges catch the light like stubble in a harvested field.
