About this work

Telegraph Poles

Telegraph poles rise in dark verticals against a pale sky, the subject Clarence White chose for one of his quiet studies of American countryside and the new wires threading through it. Each upright leans at its own slight angle, crossarms and glass insulators picked out in soft grey against cream paper tones. The wires cut thin dark lines overhead, and a gentle Pictorialist blur melts the far distance into haze. It belongs in a study or reading nook with pale walls, where the silvery tonality reads softly and the bare geometry keeps company with modern furniture.

Usually not, but international orders can occasionally be subject to local import fees set by your country. Anything like that is set by customs, not by us.
