Tangla

A high pass opens between two snowfields in Tangla, one of the Himalayan subjects Nicholas Roerich reduced to a handful of massive, silent shapes. Nothing decorative remains. Snow sits in flat white planes, unbroken except where violet shadow pools in the hollows. Above, the sky deepens from cobalt into a blue gone nearly black overhead. The tempera surface stays matte and chalky, pigment laid thin and dry, every ridge edge drawn hard and clean. Place it where quiet matters: a study with north light, an entryway that stays cool in color, a reading corner that wants one far horizon.
