Sunset Over Chioggia

Fishing boats settle into the lagoon as the light goes amber over Chioggia. This sunset scene by Stefan Popescu catches the Adriatic port at its quietest hour, masts and mooring poles drawn thin against a sky of orange and rose. The water carries the color downward in long horizontal strokes, salmon pink bleeding into violet near the dock edge. Low rooftops and a distant campanile sit dark against the glow, their shapes softened by the haze. Brushwork stays loose and quick, the kind done on site while the light still held, with wet passages of ochre and burnt sienna left to blend on their own.
