Sunrise up in the Mountains

Sun burns through a mountain pass, the crest still dark while the sky over the ridge goes from ash to apricot in a single sweep. Fujishima Takeji paints the hour before full light, when every slope reads as a different temperature. Layered ridgelines recede in blues and violets, each one paler than the last, while the valley floor holds a low drift of mist.
