Sunrise over the Mongolian Plateau

A low sun lifts its rim above the Mongolian Plateau, scattering rose and gold across a horizon that never dips. Fujishima Takeji paints the steppe as a wide band of hazy violet and amber, the sky doing all the work. Grassland below sits in cool shadow, still waiting for warmth. Long streaks of peach, coral, and pale citron run horizontally through the haze, brushed wet into wet so the colors bleed at the edges. Thin cloud banks catch the earliest light, their undersides turned copper while the upper sky holds a deep, dusty blue.
