Sunbeam — Canvas

A shaft of afternoon light falls across a Ukrainian hillside, and Ivan Trush builds the whole canvas around its arrival. Sunbeam turns an ordinary rural slope into a study of illumination, every brushstroke answering the question of how light behaves when it touches land. Golden warmth floods the middle ground, catching on grasses, field edges and the shoulder of a rise, while the surrounding terrain stays held in cooler olive and umber shadow. Trush layers impasto through the lit passage so the beam seems to sit on the surface of the picture itself, the way real glare sits on a hillside. Edges soften where light dissolves form, then sharpen again in the shaded foreground. Hung where afternoon sun enters a room, a study or a reading nook, this Ukrainian landscape keeps its own weather close at hand.
