Sun Through the Trees

Sunlight breaks between tree trunks in thick, deliberate strokes. Louis Valtat built the whole scene from loaded color, letting the foliage carry the light rather than the sky. Orange and lemon yellow press through the canopy in short, choppy dabs, while the trunks themselves turn to bands of violet and deep green. Shadow pools at the base in cool blue, and every leaf edge stays loose, worked wet into wet so the warm and cool pigments meet without a hard line anywhere. A dining room or sunroom with plain walls would let those oranges do the talking, pulling the outdoors into the room even on grey days.
